Common questions
Does Toxin need administrator rights?
Not for ordinary wakefulness. Toxin holds an IOKit assertion — the same mechanism macOS itself uses while a film is playing. Only lid-closed mode needs a small separate helper, because it flips a system setting.
Is this a subscription?
No. Pro is bought once. There is no renewal, no cancellation and nothing that gets charged later.
Does it use more power?
Yes, and there is no talking around it: a Mac that stays awake draws more power than one that sleeps. Toxin changes nothing else about your energy settings — the moment a session ends, your own settings apply again.
What happens when the time runs out?
Toxin lets go. The assertion is released, lid-closed mode is reset, and your Mac behaves exactly as it would without Toxin.
Does it work with the lid closed?
With the lid helper installed, yes. Without it, Toxin keeps the Mac awake while the lid is open — lid-closed mode simply does not join in.
